Ambassador Syed Ibne Abbas
Director General
Syed Ibne Abbas assumed the charge of the Office of the Director General, Foreign Service Academy (FSA), on 27 August 2018.

Prior to his current assignment, Ambassador Abbas served as the High Commissioner for Pakistan to the United Kingdom (October 2014 - July 2018). He also served as the High Commissioner for Pakistan to New Zealand (2010-2013).

Ambassador Abbas also held various diplomatic assignments at the Pakistan Missions abroad, which included, Consul General of Pakistan at Los Angeles, California (2006-2010), New Delhi (2001-2004), Canberra (1998-2001), Geneva (1992-1994) and Berne (1989-1992).

During his tenure at the Headquarters, amongst others, he served as the Additional Foreign Secretary (Administration), Director General (South Asia & SAARC), Director (India) and Director (UN) and Deputy Secretary, Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Syed Ibne Abbas represented Pakistan and led delegations on several occasions on bilateral and multilateral fora. He attended the 1997 and 2006, UN General Assembly sessions as a Pakistan delegate.

He also represented Pakistan at the Conference on Disarmament and attended meetings of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC), and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
